Description: Though onions are technically a vegetable, more specifically a bulb in the lily family, they are typically classified as a spice, whether fresh or dried, because of their use primarily as a seasoning. An indispensable ingredient in almost every one of the world’s cuisines where it is used fresh or dry to add volume, texture, and obviously flavor to dishes of all sorts. Granulated Onion is simply coarse ground dehydrated onion, its flavor is very similar to fresh onion but more potent by volume. Granulated Onion is less sharp with a more immediate sweetness than fresh onion and is brighter and fresher in flavor compared to Onion Powder. Granulated Onion is best used in dishes with high liquid content and longer cooking times, as it needs more time to hydrate, release its flavor, and infuse into the dish making it a perfect way to add a savory ‘back note’ and distinct onion flavor to dishes.

Suggested Uses:

Granulated Onion is extremely versatile and can be used almost anywhere you want to add a burst of onion flavor - When using as a substitution for fresh onion in any recipe, use 1 Tablespoon of Granulated Onion in place of a medium onion, 1 teaspoon of granules for 2 teaspoons of fresh minced, or one for one in place of onion paste or puréed onion

  • Use as a table condiment in place of salt or pepper to add flavor (and a bit of texture) without added sodium
  • Add to dry rubs, seasoning blends, marinades, sauces, soups, stews, dressings, and dips
  • Sprinkle over vegetables, steaks, burgers, chicken, fish, or shrimp before or after grilling or roasting
  • Use in pickling or brine mixtures to add an oniony undertone
  • Sprinkle over pasta, rice, pizza, scrambled eggs, smashed potatoes, salads, or anywhere else you can imagine!
