Origin: USA
Use With: Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, Game Meats, Fish, Seafood, Tofu, Vegetables, Rice, Pasta
Description: Though onions are technically a vegetable, more specifically a bulb in the lily family, they are typically classified as a spice, whether fresh or dried, because of their use primarily as a seasoning. An indispensable ingredient in almost every one of the world’s cuisines where it is used fresh or dry to add volume, texture, and obviously flavor to dishes of all sorts. Onion Powder is more potent than fresh onion by volume, but its flavor is not as bright or sharp, it is earthier with a more forward sweetness than fresh onion giving it excellent flavor but less ‘bite’. Unlike other dried forms of onion, Onion Powder dissolves quickly and easily and releases its flavor almost immediately when mixed with liquids, making it the perfect choice to use in uncooked dishes, those that have short cooking times, and anything that requires a completely smooth texture.
