Description: A traditional South Indian blend of roasted, ground lentils, herbs, and spices that adds an aromatic and slightly spicy boost to any dish it is added to. Traditionally used to flavor and thicken the ubiquitous thin lentil stews or chowders of Southern Indian known generally as 'Sambhar'. Just like those blends encountered throughout Southern India on which our recipe is based, Tasmanian Spice Traders’ Sambhar Masala has a complex, bold, rich earthy flavor with sweet and spicy notes that will add depths of flavor, a warming touch, and true authenticity to any variety of Sambhar and much, much, more!
Sambhar Masala should never contain salt allowing the cook to season Sambhar (and other dishes) to their taste. Tasmanian Spice Traders' proprietary Sambhar Masala follows this convention making it perfect for those requiring a limited salt intake and allowing everyone the flexibility to season their meals to their own preferences.

- Add a to soups, stews, Dals and other lentil dishes (Indian or not) for a South Indian twist with deep, earthy, peppery flavor and a touch of the exotic
- Use it to boost the flavor of South Indian gravy based curries or other traditional dish by adding it in addition to the 'regular' spices
- Use as a condiment for rice or vegetable preparations
- Use as a general 'curry powder' to flavor stir fried or roasted vegetables or any other application
